Capias – De mi Corazón

My mom is so amazing and I love her so much she literally has been with me as I was growing up and I can’t thank her enough for that.

While creating my MFA show work she asked if she could make something to celebrate such occasion even all the way from Mexico. I then decided what a great collaboration we can make. So through multiple FaceTimes we ended up on making Capais!

Traditionally made for baptisms, weddings, baby showers, etc. we thought it would be funny to celebrate the MFA show this way. So we used the traditional elements of personalized ribbon saying “ Marylu E. Herrera “ & “ De mi Corazón” ( from my heart) and lace. With the other accent ribbon to be blue to represent my grandfather Antonio’s blue bedroom.
