My dad has flags for every holiday, Chicago sports teams, season, etc. He changes them frequently for each occasion and uses the flagpole in front of our house to announce it to the whole neighborhood. This got me thinking about using this space to create a work that embodies me, my culture, and my identity to be broadcasted to the community.

Banderita was designed to be full of color and heavy for my father to struggle while hanging this flag. His only comment during the whole install was "esta pesada.
