Marylu E. Herrera (she/her) is a Chicago-based Chicana collage, printmedia, craft, and fiber artist who explores her cultural heritage through material play, creating installations and sculptures that celebrate family and personal history.

Herrera earned her BFA in Studio Art from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston at Tufts University and her MFA in Printmedia from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is currently a Lecturer in the Printmedia Department at SAIC and also teaches Risography at Lillstreet Art Center.

Herrera’s work has been exhibited at venues such as Parlour and Ramp, Lot'sa, SkyART, Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago Art Department, Comfort Station, RUSCHWOMAN, Woman Made Gallery, and SITE Galleries. Her collage work has been featured in New York Magazine (The Cut), Los Angeles Times, Bitch Media, and Eater.com.

Most recently, Herrera participated in the 2023 Center Program at Hyde Park Art Center, was a 2022–2024 Chicago Art Department Resident, received the 2023 Individual Artist Program Grant from Chicago DCASE, was part of the 2024 ACRE Residency, and was selected for the Evanston Art Center’s 27th Evanston + Vicinity Biennial (2025).
